Yesterday at the Desert Hot Springs City Council Meeting, Mayor Adam Sanchez and the City Council honored one of our most committed Desert Hot Springs Rotarians – Jack Webb – by proclaiming today – July 8th, 2015 – the first Annual “Jack Webb Day” in Desert Hot Springs.
This lands on the Rotarian, entrepreneur and philanthropist’s 90th birthday.
Jack Webb has been in the Desert Hot Springs Rotary since 1978. He has chaired many committees, and served on the board every year onto this day. He has been very involved with many international projects in Mexico, and many local projects including the Rotary Dog Park, and our current Rotary Community Garden project.
Not only is he an involved member of the Rotary Community Garden committee, he donated the land for the project.
This is only his involvement in Rotary – but Jack Webb has proved to be a true Rotarian – being a strong leader who puts Service Above Self – in every element of his life.
Other accomplishments include; being a Navy veteran in World War II stationed in the South Pacific, owning “Jack Webb Pullets’ selling millions of chickens while creating jobs for 350 employees, owning the Kismet hotel and spa in Desert Hot Springs from 1975-1978, doing Real Estate from 1977 to today, holding position as president of the Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce 1981, being a frequent author of many articles in the Valley Breeze, holding position as a board member of the Mission Springs Water District from 1981 – 2005, and was one of the sponsors of the Carl May Community Center.
No one is more deserving than Jack Webb of this honor, and all Rotarian should be proud of this humble man living out the purpose of Rotary in all that he does.
Happy Jack Webb Day!
